Small Businesses are Hurting | April 12, 2022

Over the last two years, small businesses across the country have been hit hard by a volatile open-and-shut cycle, rising prices due to inflation, labour shortages, and automatic tax increases. Instead of tackling inflation and other critical issues with this budget, the NDP-Liberals are increasing spending without a plan to return to a balanced budget.

The average small business is carrying $170,000 in new debt due to the pandemic, and this latest budget does nothing to remove the barriers to allow them to get ahead.

The ask from small businesses has been clear – prioritize red tape reduction and ensure the cost of doing business does not increase by tackling inflation. The NDP/Liberals have failed to bring forth a budget which prioritizes either request.
