Budget Day | April 7, 2022

Today, the NDP-Liberal government released their 2022 budget, which introduces radical economic schemes that will harm the financial security of Canadians by raising taxes on hardworking Canadian families and worsening our competitiveness.

Canadians need a plan to deal with the cost-of-living crisis, to bolster our economic prosperity and competitiveness, and provide them with the hope that they can be better off than they were when the Liberals came to power. Justin Trudeau failed to deliver that plan, instead adding another $50 billion dollars in uncontrolled spending that can only be paid through higher taxes. The federal government is now 25 per cent bigger than it was pre-pandemic.

This is not a responsible budget – this is an NDP budget. It is a budget funded by Canadians suffering from inflation.

We were looking for three things:

1) controlled spending to control inflation;
2) tax breaks for Canadians; and
3) substantial action on increasing housing supply.

The budget failed Canadians on all of these.

Rather than presenting real solutions and a meaningful plan to fight the inflationary pressures that are leaving so many Canadians behind, the NDP-Liberal government unleashed an avalanche of uncontrolled spending and misguided taxation that will only make things worse.

More to come…
