Eliminating Mandatory Prison Time For Gun Crimes and More: C-22 | Mar 6, 2021

The Liberals have introduced Bill C-22, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The bill eliminates mandatory minimum sentences for a number of offences. These are primarily related to gun crime. The bill also allows for greater use of conditional sentence orders, such as house arrest, for a number of offences where the offender faces a term of less than two years imprisonment.
