Petition to Extend Border Exemptions to Essential Business | Apr 29, 2021
Today I tabled a petition signed by local business owners and their workers calling for clarity and certainty at the Canada-US border. Contracts and well-paying jobs are being lost due to the Liberal Government’s inaction.
I have raised this urgent matter many times in the House in the last several weeks. The Minister of Public Safety and his surrogates in the House fumble about in reply every time it is raised.
Time for Action! It is a simple ask!
Designated as “essential” by the Government of Ontario, under the Emergency Management & Civil Protection Act, these petitioners are asking to be allowed to exit and re-enter any port of entry with the same exemptions from quarantines and fines that apply to all “essential” workers engaged in cross- border commerce.
