Was this a good deal? | Jul 12, 2026
The Gordie Howe International Bridge should be a proud moment for Windsor–Essex and for Canada.
Canadians paid 100% of the cost, including infrastructure on both sides of the border, and taxpayers assumed the risk.
If this is a good deal for Canada, then there should be no issue releasing the full agreement before the bridge opens.
Canadians deserve to know what changed, what will be shared, when taxpayers will recover their investment, and what Canada received in return.
This is not about opposing the bridge. It is about transparency, accountability, and standing up for Canadian taxpayers.
What, exactly, did Canada win? Was this a good deal?
