Housing challenges | Jul 26, 2026

Canada’s housing and affordability challenges are having real consequences. The latest Everyone Counts report found nearly 60,000 people experiencing homelessness on a single night across 74 Canadian communities, including more than 17,000 people in unsheltered locations. Behind these numbers are people, families, seniors, youth, and communities under pressure. Canadians need more than announcements, they need real results.

Conservatives will continue pushing for practical solutions that help lower costs and get more homes built. That includes removing the GST on new homes under $1.3 million, speeding up approvals, lowering development charges, and cutting taxes on essentials like food, gas, and homebuilding. The goal is simple: make life more affordable and help restore the promise that hard work can lead to a safe community and a place to call home.
