More Ideological Firearms Legislation Pushed in Parliament | Feb 16, 2021

Today, the Trudeau government tabled a bill that will set up a program to buy back the firearms they banned this past May; prohibiting the use, sale and importation of more than 1,500 makes and models of legally purchased weapons. Details on the government’s original announcement are below.

While the proposed buy-back program is voluntary, owners of the over 1,500 models and variants listed will be required to comply with strict requirements beginning on April 30, 2022, including agreeing to cease all use and store the firearms indefinitely.

Taking firearms away from law-abiding citizens does nothing to stop dangerous criminals and gangs who obtain their guns illegally.

Conservatives are calling on the Trudeau Liberals to ensure that Canada’s firearms legislation is based on evidence, not on ideology, and respects the rights of Canadians.
