Speaking to the Ambassador on Border Issues for Essex Business | Mar 4, 2021
This is an exchange between MP Chris Lewis and Canada’s Ambassador to the US, Kirsten Hillman.
Hillman appeared before the Special Committee studying Canada and US economic relations. Chris is a member of the Committee.
This exchange ended with Chris asking for President Biden’s phone number.
The issue Chris raised is the steep toll that the 14-day quarantine, required every time local business owners cross the border to meet with their US counterparts, is having on small and medium sized manufacturers doing business in the US. This is putting local jobs at stake.
For her part the Ambassador did not adequately address the concern which prompted Chris’s closing comment. “If there is some way you can get a phone number for President Biden, I would be very willing to talk to him to protect jobs and Canadian families”.
