No Timeline for Clean Water | Mar 11, 2021
Yesterday, the Liberal government announced their re-commitment to lifting all long-term drinking water advisories on reserves – but refused to offer a timeline of completion. The announcement focused on the launch of a redesigned website, where Canadians can track ongoing construction projects.
The announcement comes just weeks after the Auditor General issued a report on Indigenous Services Canada, finding that their supports had “not been adequate to address long-standing problems with safe drinking water for many of Canada’s First Nations communities.”
For over a year, Conservatives have been asking the Minister of Indigenous Services to look at alternate solutions to end long-term drinking water advisories. It’s unacceptable that any Canadian is without clean drinking water.
