One of the local community resources that took a hit during the pandemic is Legal Aid. Courts were closed for months creating a significant backlog.
At Committee, during Hearings on the Justice Department’s expenditures, I questioned department officials about their spending priorities related to Legal Aid and the victims they support.
I asked what conversations the Feds have had with the provinces with respect to the impact of the pandemic and how they intended to close the funding gap.
