In October 2019, the people of Essex put their trust in me. It was a huge responsibility I did not take lightly; an honour which I am incredibly proud of but have never taken for granted.
This was a hard-fought campaign. There were many, many important issues to address. People want leadership and action. I worked hard to stay above the fray; to provide a clear message of hope and a plan for Essex to thrive. I also tried to model a different way to do politics free of personal attacks and to take my message to the people directly.
Thank you for putting your trust in me and for the honour to serve you again as the Member of Parliament for Essex.
Special thanks to my amazing team who worked long hours to support my re-election campaign. You know who you are, and you know what you mean to me. I can never thank you enough for your dedication to me and to our shared commitment to the people of Essex.
I would also like to recognize my party Leader, Erin O’Toole, who put together a comprehensive plan for Canada’s Economic Recovery. I know that Erin will roll-up his sleeves and do his very best to ensure the greatest outcome for Canadians in his role as Leader of the Official Opposition.
I also want to commend the candidates from the other parties for putting their name forward. It is not an easy thing to do. I know the long hours and the sacrifice it takes.
My goal is certainly our economic future, but another big priority is to do my part to end divisive politics and bring unity back to Essex. My commitment is to serve each and every one of you with the same passion and compassion as I did in my first term. I look forward to hearing from and working with you.
Together, we can leave the world a better place than we found it.
