Standing with the Uyghurs | Nov 19, 2021
Permission was granted by those in attendance to share these photographs of my evening with Garnett Genuis, MP and Shadow Minister for International Development, and our friends from the Uyghur Muslim community this week.
We met at the Windsor Mosque to discuss the ongoing human rights abuses of the Uyghur Muslims in China. One representative from that community told her moving, and deeply troubling, story of losing her family.
Last year, I had been asked by MP Genuis to sponsor a petition in Parliament to recognize the human rights abuses against the Uyghurs as genocide and to implement sanctions against the Chinese government. This meeting further opened my eyes to their plight.
Thank you, Garnett Genuis, for your insightful update on what the Conservatives are doing in Parliament.
Thank you, also, to Adam and all those at the Mosque for reaching out.
