Conservative Motion Concerning China | May 12, 2022

Today, the House of Commons will debate a Conservative motion to appoint a special committee with the mandate to conduct hearings to examine and review all aspects of the Canada-People’s Republic of China relationship.

It’s time for the government to take seriously the threats that the Beijing communist leadership poses to Canada’s national interest and security, as well as our interests and values.

This Committee would be mandated to examine and review all aspects of the Canada-People’s Republic of China relationship, which would better position Canada to face the threats of Beijing’s communist leadership and protect Canada’s national interest and security.

Canada needs a clear, strong, and principled policy on China in concert with its like-minded democratic allies. Only Conservatives can deliver that clear policy.
