Housing Prices Out of Reach | May 16, 2022

There were some statistics released by the Canadian Real Estate Association and it appears the dream of homeownership continues to remain a dream for most Canadians.

The numbers show that the average price of a home remains out of reach for most Canadians, reaching $866,700, skyrocketing by 23.7 per cent in just the last year.

“The Liberal government has had six years to fix the issue of housing affordability and have failed to develop a plan that works. Month after month, we continue to see a decrease in available properties on the market. Rather than addressing the supply shortages that continue to drive the unaffordability crisis, the Liberals continue to push programs that won’t help a Canadian family afford a home who otherwise couldn’t and continue down the failing path of the First-time Home Buyer’s Incentive and the Shared Mortgage fund.

I will continue to be the voice of families and young people in Windsor-Essex and across Canada who are giving up on the dream of home ownership or are struggling to afford skyrocketing rent.
