Student Essay Contest | Oct 4, 2022

Partly funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Ontario Schools Cricket Association (OSCA) is running a student essay contest in Ontario schools, Titled “The Crown, Cricket and Canada”. Supported by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the contest invites students to write an essay exploring cricket’s storied history and royal connections in Canada.

This contest is particularly timely for Ontario students, as the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II has led to heightened interest in the history, relationship, and impact of the British monarchy on Canadian citizenship and culture. This contest is a unique opportunity for students to explore these topics while also learning more about the game of cricket. Those who submit a top essay will receive official recognition from the Province of Ontario and prize money of $3,000 will be awarded to the winner(s).
