New crime stats were published by StatsCan today, illustrating how Justin Trudeau’s justice failures are making Canadians less safe.
New StatsCan data shows that after eight years of Justin Trudeau, violent crime has increased 39%, and homicides by 43%. Gang murders have more than doubled and violent gun crime has increased for the eighth consecutive year.
These numbers are even worse for Canadians living in large cities, who have seen crime rates increase by as much as 24% over just the last year, with cities like Toronto seeing a 66% increase in homicides under Justin Trudeau.
A common-sense Conservative government will prioritize public safety by keeping repeat violent offenders in custody during trial and reinstating mandatory jail time for serious violent crimes, a measure removed by the Liberals. Conservatives firmly believe in jail, not bail, for repeat violent offenders, and are committed to bringing safer streets to our communities.
