Consequences of the Coalitions Failure | Oct 9, 2024

Today’s National Rent Report by Rentals.ca reveals the consequences of the coalitions failure:

-Record High Rent: Canada’s average asking rent hit $2,193 in September.

– Skyrocketing Costs: Rent is 13.4% higher than two years ago and 25.2% higher than three years ago.

-️ City Struggles: Vancouver’s average rent is $3,023, and Toronto’s is $2,668.

– Shared Accommodation: Even shared living spaces are unaffordable, averaging $1,009 in September, a 6.9% annual increase.

– Housing Crisis: The CMHC states that the current rate of new home construction isn’t enough to reduce the supply gap and improve affordability.

– Failed Promises: Despite promises, the NDP-Liberal government has not addressed the regulatory burdens and gatekeepers that hinder new construction.

Common Sense Solution: Only a Conservative government will build affordable homes by firing the gatekeepers and tying federal infrastructure money to housing completion.
