Update on the WHO Agreement | May 20, 2022

The World Health Organization (WHO) is in the process of proposing an international agreement on pandemic prevention with the stated goal of ‘strengthening pandemic prevention, preparedness and response’. The intergovernmental negotiating body participating in the draft agreement is in the process of determining governance and procedures for the body and will begin drafting a report in August 2022 for submission in 2023.

Negotiations to begin drafting an international agreement on pandemic prevention has not yet begun. The intergovernmental negotiating body (INB) will meet in August to begin this process. The World Health Assembly is not expected to have a draft report until 2023 and will not adopt the instrument until 2024.

Conservatives have been a strong voice for lifting federal vaccine mandates and restrictions and we believe Canada’s Parliament should set policy and direction on what is best for Canada.

We have proposed reasonable made in Canada solutions to end the Prime Minister’s division and stigmatization by following the science, just as many provinces and countries around the world have already done.
