Congrats to Aaron Ekblad! | Jun 24, 2024
The 28-year-old defenceman hoisted Lord Stanley’s mug Monday night after a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. As a local legend and assistant captain, Aaron makes us all proud. He’s also the younger brother of former Essex 73’s goaltender Darien Ekblad, who led Essex to a deep Schmaltz Cup run in 2013-14.

CPC Bill Will Recognize Campgrounds As Small Businesses | Jun 22, 2024
The proposed bill will recognize campgrounds as small businesses, cutting their taxes and allowing them to reinvest in conservation, facilities maintenance, wildlife management, and services. Conservatives aim to support over 5600 campgrounds that employ 140,000 Canadians and provide outdoor experiences for 70% of Canadians. While the NDP-Liberals tax the camping industry heavily, Conservatives will deliver tax relief to help these small businesses thrive and offer affordable vacation options for families.
Trudeau Finally Lists IRGC | Jun 21, 2024
Canada has never been more vulnerable to foreign interference. The Liberal government’s refusal to stand up to hostile foreign states has undermined our democracy while leaving Canadians open to harassment and violence. It is unacceptable that it took six years for the Liberal Government to finally act, and only after years of Conservative calls for action. Canadians cannot wait another six years for the Liberal government to take further action to protect Canada’s national security. Only Common Sense Conservatives will protect Canadians and stand with the people of Iran in their fight for freedom.
Working to Axe the Tax! | Jun 20, 2024
The Liberal-NDP coalition have driven up the cost of everything with their inflationary taxes and continue to keep interest rates high with $60 billion of new inflationary spending. As a direct result of this, a record number of Canadians are lining up outside of food banks, while the cost of heating and gas has become unaffordable. This is happening at a time when Canadian living standards are in sharp decline after Trudeau made it impossible to do business and earn powerful paycheques. That’s why Common Sense Conservatives have been fighting hard in Parliament, holding the Liberal-NDP coalition accountable until a Conservative Government can bring common sense back to Ottawa.
Fight for Canadians | Jun 19, 2024
Conservatives put forward motions in multiple Committees requesting to continue working through the summer on the issues facing Canadians, the Liberal-NDP coalition and the Bloc all voted against them. Worse still, one NDP member put forward motions that would’ve ensured committees could not investigate Trudeau’s $60 million ArriveScam, which is now under multiple RCMP investigations, as well as corruption at the Green Slush Fund. Conservatives fought off these motions so Canadians can get the transparency they deserve. Canadians don’t get a three month summer vacation, so neither should Justin Trudeau and the NDP-Liberal Government.
Bill C-405 | Jun 18, 2024
Bill C-405 will ensure stronger accountability for the Parliament of Canada to the citizens of Canada by including a minimum penalty of imprisonment for a term of six months for cases of perjury before a House of Parliament. It also amends the Parliament of Canada Act to provide that a House of Parliament may impose a fine of not more than $50,000 on a person who engages in conduct that amounts to contempt of Parliament.
People must respect Canada’s Parliament, our laws, and our institutions. Conservatives believe in restoring Canadians’ confidence in Parliament to bring home accountability.
Accelerate | Jun 17, 2024
I met with Andrew McKinnon and Matthew Fortier from Accelerate (Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Supply Chain Alliance ZEV). Accelerate is Canada’s industrial alliance of mining, advanced materials, batteries, fuel cells, R&D, indigenous interests, labour, vehicle manufacturing, the public sector, and infrastructure, whose overarching goal is to ensure Canada thrives from the creation of new supply chains. We had a fantastic discussion on maximizing Canada’s supply chain potential. Excited for more insightful conversations ahead!

Worse than we thought | Jun 14, 2024
Yesterday, hidden Liberal data revealed that families are paying an extra $1,824 annually due to Trudeau’s carbon tax. Despite millions struggling to make ends meet and relying on food banks, Trudeau/NDP hiked the carbon tax by 23%, misleading Canadians about its benefits. A secret report, exposed by a Common Sense Conservative motion, shows the carbon tax will cost Canadians $30.5 billion yearly by 2030. Trudeau and his minister, Steven Guilbeault, knew this but kept it hidden. Guilbeault must resign, and Trudeau must release all related documents. Only Common Sense Conservatives will axe the carbon tax and bring home lower prices for all Canadians.
Is this the track you want Canada to continue in? | Jun 14, 2024
Since this government came into power, 9 in 10 middle-class families pay more in
income tax. An American worker now is nearly 50% more productive per hour than a Canadian worker. Canada was ahead of the United States when it came to investment. But every year since Trudeau’s election, the US has received more in investment from Canada than Canada has from them – now totaling $460 billion, or $11,500 more per person leaving Canada for the US than Canada got back.
Tax Reform Task Force | Jun 14, 2024
Under this government, Canada has had the worst growth in income per person (or GDP per capita) of any government since the 1930s. Before they came into power, Canada’s GDP per capita grew at the same rate as that of the United States. But since 2015, Canada’s economy has weakened significantly. Productivity is output per hour worked. Canadians worked a total of 34.6 billion hours in 2023 to generate a GDP of USD$1.8. trillion. This works out to USD$53 per hour worked. After we are elected, we will name a Tax Reform Task Force of entrepreneurs, inventors, farmers and workers.
BREAKING | Jun 13, 2024
During testimony at committee, PBO Yves Giroux stated that the government had provided him with a copy of their own estimates of the impact of the carbon tax but had put him under a gag order not to talk about it. Conservatives are calling for the government to release their own data. They did so this morning as our motion started being debated.
Justin Trudeau and his Liberal Government cannot be trusted to be honest with Canadians. That’s why Common Sense Conservatives have launched a motion calling on Trudeau to release their full data on how the carbon tax hurts Canadians.
