Thank you ACPA | Nov 29, 2022

As a member on the Standing Committee for Transportation, Infrastructure, and Communities, it was a pleasure hearing from members of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA), Zoran Knevic and Ian Marr this week.

They presented some ideas to how their ports on Vancouver Island could significantly improve Canada’s supply chains through the expansion of the Port Alberni and Nanaimo ports.

Thank you to Brad Saunders from Community Living Toronto and Deepak Soni from Corbrook Awakening Abilities for meeting with me in Ottawa.

We discussed how Canada’s labour shortages are impacting the disability care service sector and those individuals they support. It was great hearing about the many initiatives their organizations are implementing to improve labour in this industry. Keep up the great work!!

Christmas Parade in Amherstburg | Nov 27, 2022

I had an amazing time at the Town of Amherstburg Santa Parade hosted by the Windsor Parade Corporation.

Thanks to my team of volunteers that came out last night as well.

This is the largest assault on hunters in Canadian history | Nov 26, 2022

The Liberals have made life easier for violent criminals by repealing mandatory minimum sentences for gun crimes with Bill C-5, have made it easier to get bail with C-75, and have failed to stop the flow of illegal crime guns across the US border.

Hunting rifles are not the problem. No one believes that going after hunters, and legitimate hunting rifles, will reduce violent crime across the country.

Remembrance service in Woodslee | Nov 20, 2022

Thank you to all those who gathered in Woodslee today to remember those who have fallen to protect our freedom and those who serve to protect us today!

Even though it is a small price to pay to stand in the cold the decision was made to have our time indoors at the Millen Park centre. It was a special time of remembrance and reflection. Lest we forget

Meeting with CBTU and Pierre | Nov 17, 2022

I had a constructive meeting with our leader Pierre Poilievre and Canada’s Building Trades Unions as the Conservative Party of Canada – Parti conservateur du Canada continues to support workers and speak with the organizations that represent them.

CLAC and PCA | Nov 17, 2022

Today I had the pleasure of meeting with the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) and the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC). In co-operation, these associations bring together employers and employees, contractors and unions, to create an efficient, productive, and strong labour force here in Canada.
I found this line from CLAC’s presentation particularly inspiring: “CLAC is a union that was founded on the belief that people, businesses, and work communities flourish when workplaces are based on cooperation and mutual respect—when we work with each other, not against each other.”

Farmer Exemption?!? | Nov 17, 2022

This passed Committee and if it passes in the House of Commons, farmers will be exempt from the Liberal’s punitive carbon tax!

If you have an NDP or Liberal MP, call their office and ask them to support this critical bill that will help farmers and fight skyrocketing food prices.

Mental health Talks | Nov 16, 2022

It was an honour to host a meeting with Fred Phelps from the Canadian Association of Social Workers, Michelle Weglarz, a local Social Worker and Therapist in Essex, and MP Doherty. We discussed the need for more funding and the provision of access to mental health support across the country and in different sectors. It is clear that some kind of major strategy is needed Federally and that the money allocated by the government is long overdue. Thank you to all who took part in this incredibly important discussion and to MP Doherty for his compassionate, yet practical, perspective. As a former social worker he is the perfect person for the job of Shadow Minister for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health.

Meeting with Unifor | Nov 15, 2022

This morning I met with Unifor and heard about their priorities for the workers they represent.

Thank you for advocating for solutions which protect workers while also promoting the growth and development of so many labour sectors across the country.

Thank you CCA | Nov 15, 2022

Today, I met with members from the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). They, like so many other industries across the country, are facing a labour shortage.

As Shadow Minister for Labour, it is important for me to meet with groups like CCA to hear about their challenges and the various outside-the-box approaches they have to solve these problems. Thank you for meeting with me, CCA!!

Today is World Diabetes Day!! | Nov 14, 2022

Today was a very special day for my office because I had two Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) advocates come for a visit. Leah and Lucas shared about what their lives look like with Type 1 Diabetes and the importance of researching for a cure. They were quick to make a friend because my team member, Erin, also has Type 1 Diabetes. Look at them showing off their devices! Insulin is a life-saving medicine that was discovered right here in Canada 101 years ago! Now, JDRF Canada hopes their research efforts will also make Canada the place where a cure is found. As Leah said in her presentation: “Keep kicking Diabetes’ butt Erin, Lucas, and Leah!”

Learning about Type 1 Diabetes | Nov 13, 2022

Thank you to Kade for visiting me at my office in Essex last week. Your presentation on your experience with Type 1 Diabetes was both informative and inspiring. You and your mom, Stephanie, did a wonderful job at bringing your message of hope for a cure and providing for those with Type 1 Diabetes so well!

My hope and prayer is that one day we find that cure!!

Touring Anderson College | Nov 10, 2022

Thank you to Don Thibert, President and CEO of Anderson College, Windsor for the amazing tour of the facilities and most of all meeting the wonderful and hard-working faculty and students. Don told me that the college has an 89% rate of students going into their chosen area of study after graduating at Anderson and 50% of students that go to Anderson are referred by other students already attending the college. I took a look at the massage class, business class, dental assistant class and the para-legal class. What a great career college to go to.

Lunch with the Chaldean League | Nov 10, 2022

Thank you to the Chaldean League, Windsor and Dr. George Mansor for your excellent hospitality. The food is always amazing when we meet. Thank you also to Andrew Dowie, MPP and Mayor of Windsor, Drew Dilkens, for coming and answering questions with me. These kinds of discussions are essential to better understand the people in our region.

Conservative Meet and Greet | Nov 8, 2022

Thanks to the Windsor-Tecumseh Conservative Association for the invitation to your Meet and Greet last evening! It was a fantastic crowd of like-minded people who are looking to return Canada to its place as the best country in the world! I was encouraged by the enthusiasm of individuals wanting to get involved and make a difference.

Canadians are speaking and Conservatives are listening! Our goal is to leave the world a better place than we found it. It’s time to take back Canada with our practical, no-nonsense solutions!

Visiting St Joseph’s | Nov 8, 2022

Thank you to Don Petrozzi for your invitation to visit St Joseph’s Catholic Church in River Canard.

What a beautiful building with so much community history! It was an honour to be with you today and hear about all you and the people or your area have done for the church.

Well done. That’s what community is all about.

Harrow rDC Tour | Nov 7, 2022

Once again, I had the opportunity to learn of the incredible work happening right here in Essex! Did you know that the Harrow Research and Development Centre is the largest greenhouse research facility in North America? Or that they are a globally recognized producer of identity-preserved IP food quality soybeans and greenhouse products? The location, on the southern edge of Canada’s border, allows the identification of any Agri pests or diseases as they enter Canada. This quick catch at our gateway expedites the research on solutions before they get far into our country. Thank you Sergio and Ruth for sharing the mission of the Harrow RDC and the value that it brings to our region.

Green housing in Essex | Nov 7, 2022

Businesses in Essex continue to impress with green, innovative technologies.

Very dynamic conversation about green housing in our region.

The Start of Remembrance week | Nov 6, 2022

Starting Remembrance Week with the Belle River Remembrance Parade and Service hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 399. It was an honour to stand in respect and gratitude with those that have served, the reserves and cadets to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Lest we forget.

Breakfast with Pierre | Nov 2, 2022

It was an honour to be invited by our Leader, Pierre Poilievre, to Stornoway, the residence of the Leader of the Official Opposition in Ottawa, for breakfast this morning.

It was good to have my Ontario Caucus colleagues there as well. So many great people in one place!

Thank you to the Leader for a wonderful morning.

Hearing from EMC | Nov 1, 2022

Thank you to Electric Mobility Canada / Mobilité électrique Canada for the discussion on the future of electric power in Canada’s automotive industry. There are many facets to this transition that need to be considered as we move forward.

I appreciate the opportunity to talk through many of the complicated factors that would accompany Canada’s transition to EVs.

Talking with Merit | Nov 1, 2022

Today I had the privilege to hear from Merit Canada and some of its members. As the national voice of Canada’s provincial construction associations, Merit Canada shared many of the issues present in Canada’s construction industry, one of the biggest being the labour shortage.

Thank you to all in the construction industry that continue to build and expand Canada’s infrastructure despite these many challenges.
