Vote For A Carbon Tax Election| Aug 31, 2024

Jagmeet Singh must put Canadian workers before his $2.2 million pension. No one voted for the Liberal-NDP coalition and no one wants another year of Trudeau’s economic misery. The NDP must pull out of the costly coalition and join with Common Sense Conservatives in calling for a carbon tax election. Only then will Canadians have a government that axes the tax and brings home powerful paycheques for everyone.

Happy Labour Day! | Aug 30, 2024

As we enjoy this long weekend, let’s reflect on its rich history. Originating in the late 19th century, Labour Day celebrates the achievements of workers and their contributions to building a fairer society. Whether you’re spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, or just relaxing at home, take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication that have shaped our great nation.

Stay safe, and make the most of this well-deserved break! Enjoy the parades, picnics, and rest—here’s to celebrating every worker’s dedication across Canada!

Cedar Island Yacht Club (CIYC) | Aug 23, 2024

Cedar Island Yacht Club (CIYC) has grown an incredible summer Youth Sailing Camp from it’s humble beginnings as a 2 week experience to 8 weeks of CANSail for youth from the ages of 8-14. This has been a huge success.

It was a privilege to visit the CIYC this afternoon and seeing the activity and hearing the excitement of the children enjoying their last day of camp for this summer.
It was also an honour to recognize the investment of two fine individuals, with the Annual Bryan Stewart Award, in memory of Bryan, “a long time member and great supporter of Youth Sailing”.

Congratulations Glenn Lethbridge, Executive Director of Ontario Sailing and Paul Cairoli, Past Chair of CIYC’s Youth Sailing Committee for this recognition and your dedication and support by investing in youth and leaving the world a better place than you found it!

Southern Canadian Classic competition | Aug 22, 2024

Another exciting local event putting Essex on the map! It was an honour to be the Grand Marshall starter at the Southern Canadian Classic 3-D Archery shooting competition.

A huge thank you to Bruno Morin and his wife Keri Robinson for organizing such a great event filled with sportsmanship, sponsors and archers from both sides is the border. (Young and old!) To say these folks are sharp shooters is an understatement.

Conservatives stand strongly for legal sport shooters, hunters and firearms owners.

Always a pleasure to see the great folks from Spirits Canada in action, especially with a refreshing selection of cocktails prepared by Mike!

Parliament of Canada Tour | Aug 20, 2024

Giving a tour of Parliament of Canada is always a highlight for me! The thrill of entering the House of Commons has never gotten old – for me, it’s like stepping onto the ice in the Stanley Cup final!

I was happy to share this enthusiasm with the County of Essex representatives who were in Ottawa this week for the 2024 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference!

Rising Violent Crime | Aug 18, 2024

Canada’s once-safe towns and cities have become rife with crime, chaos, drugs and disorder.

Axe the Tax | Aug 15, 2024

The Finance Minister has scrambled to bring in her latest tax hike to pay for their uncontrolled inflationary spending. This is not a tax on the ultra-rich, as the Liberals claim. This is a tax on food, homebuilding, retirement, pensions, doctors, pharmacists, truckers, small business owners, and farmers.

Taxing farmers drives up food costs. Taxing doctors means it’s harder to find one.
Taxing homebuilders means fewer homes. And taxing small businesses means fewer paycheques.

I was honoured to attend the Essex County Federation of Agriculture (ECFA) dinner, along with the great folks from the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA).

Our farmers work tirelessly to feed Ontario, Canada, and the world. I will always support our hardworking farmers here in Canada.

Rent at a Record High | Aug 12, 2024

The number of homes built is expected to keep falling for the next two years still.

Compared to a year ago, the average asking rent for purpose-built apartments increased by 7.4 percent while purpose-built two and three-bedroom apartments saw increases of 9.1 percent and 12.1 percent respectively.

Only Common Sense Conservatives will fire the gatekeepers and tie federal infrastructure funding to home building to bring homes that Canadians can afford.

Time for a carbon tax election! | Aug 10, 2024

A new Fraser Institute report has found that Canadians now pay more for taxes than they do on food, shelter, and clothing combined.

The average Canadian family is paying more than $10,000 more in taxes than they were nine years ago. The carbon tax is already causing significant pain for Canadian families, and the Liberals and NDP is promising to quadruple it by 2030.
