Have you heard the news about Steven Guilbeault’s resignation from Cabinet? Reports say he stepped down after a significant internal disagreement with the direction of the Liberal leadership. His departure has raised questions about what’s happening inside the Liberal caucus and whether deeper divisions are emerging at a critical time.

What are your thoughts on this resignation?

It was an honour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), in Ottawa, alongside my colleague MP Dave Epp and Anna Vogt, MCC Director of Advocacy and Public Policy.

Congratulations to MCC on this incredible milestone, and thank you for the outstanding work you continue to do in our communities and around the world.

Canadian Labour Congress | Nov 27, 2025

Canada’s strength comes from the hard work and dedication of its people. My conversation with the Canadian Labour Congress – was about ensuring those values translate into real opportunities for families across the country.

When we work together, labour, leadership, and communities, we can build a future where every Canadian has the chance to succeed.

Standing for Farmers | Nov 26, 2025

When your grocery bill feels heavier than your shopping bags, something’s wrong.
In Essex, our farmers work hard to feed Canada, yet Ottawa keeps stacking taxes that drive up costs for everyone.

I told the government that it’s time for common sense, lets cut the carbon tax and make food affordable again!

Watch here.

Fighting for Young Canadians | Nov 24, 2025

It’s unacceptable that affordable housing remains out of reach for so many young Canadians, and equally unacceptable that they’re burdened by the consequences of a Liberal budget deficit.

My Conservative colleagues and I believe in a brighter future—one where future generations can thrive, and where Canadians keep more of their hard-earned money through lower taxes.

Extortion in Canada has skyrocketed | Nov 19, 2025

Up 330% since 2015. Putting families, small businesses, and entire communities at risk and highlighting the need for stronger protections and real consequences for violent crime.

Conservatives are calling for stronger sentences, tougher bail rules, and real consequences to protect Canadians from violent crime.

PBO Report | Nov 17, 2025

The Parliamentary Budget Officer released a report last week raising concerns about the federal budget numbers — including a $94 billion difference in how capital spending was counted and projections showing the operating budget won’t balance over the next five years. The report also says Canada’s debt-to-GDP ratio is now expected to rise.

These are the PBO’s findings, not opinions. Do you think the PBO is being fair and independent, or do you feel there’s bias in this report?

Across Windsor–Essex, our small businesses and brick-and-mortar shops are the backbone of our local economy. They employ our neighbours, support our community events, and keep our towns vibrant and welcoming. As Christmas approaches, I encourage everyone to shop local whenever possible.

Lest we forget. | Nov 11, 2025

Remembrance Day in Essex County is always memorable.

At 11 a.m. on November 11th, we are unified, in the towns across our County, in those moments, honouring the ones who served and the thousands that gave their lives for our freedom. With seven well-attended ceremonies throughout Essex County, we continue to fulfill our promise — we will remember.

Lest we forget.

Canada’s Growing Debt | Nov 8, 2025

Federal debt is projected to reach $1.35 trillion, adding $321.7 billion more over the next five years. Annual interest payments on the debt are expected to hit $55.6 billion in 2025-26 — higher than the Canada Health Transfer ($54.7B) and GST revenue ($54.4B). This equals about $3,360 per Canadian household. Real GDP growth for 2025 is just 1.1%, the second lowest in the G7. Unemployment is forecast to average 6.4% over the next five years.

For those not supporting a change in government: how much debt and interest are you comfortable with?

Ensuring the 2025 Federal budget meets the needs of the various industries across Canada is top of mind over the coming weeks.

Habitat for Humanity | Nov 6, 2025

Had a great meeting with Fiona and Mike of Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex discussing the needs of Essex and their recent venture partnering with Amico to create affordable housing.  Did you know that they are celebrating 30 years in Windsor-Essex? 100% of donations go directly to their build? There are lots of opportunities to get involved!

Thank you Fiona and Mike for your work with Habitat for Humanity and for advocating for affordable housing projects. I look forward to our continued conversation and supporting opportunities to continue this important work.

Digital ID Gets the Green Light | Nov 6, 2025

The federal government is moving ahead with a Digital ID system for federal benefit claimants — including Employment Insurance and Old Age Security — according to a budget note reported by Blacklock’s Reporter.

Ottawa says it won’t be “mandatory”, but many Canadians are asking important questions: How will our personal data be stored and used? Who will have access to it? Could this eventually become required for access to benefits or services?

Hand in Hand Support | Nov 5, 2025

I was pleased to join our Leader, Pierre Poilievre in a visit to Hand In Hand Support in Historic Sandwich Town. We learned about their incredible work “providing support and a path to life skills for clients marginalized by addiction and mental health challenges”.

This Non-Profit has a 71% success rate and builds a great support community of people helping people. I look forward to hearing about the great things Hand In Hand Support is doing in our community and their continued success.

Canada’s Budget: What Do You Think? | Nov 5, 2025

The new federal budget adds another $78 billion to the deficit, pushing our national debt past $1.3 trillion. We’re now spending more on interest payments than on healthcare transfers.

Do you think our government should focus on balancing the budget, or is deficit spending simply the new normal for Canadians?

Bad Liberal Budget | Nov 4, 2025

The Liberals just dropped a $78 BILLION deficit — the third largest in Canadian history. They promised to “spend less.” Instead, they’ve nearly doubled Trudeau’s deficit and kept Liberal taxes on food, fuel, homes, and hard work.

They call it an investment, but let’s call it what it is — debt.

Conservatives will continue standing up for Canadians — for affordability, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.

Global Automakers Canada | Nov 4, 2025

Auto workers are the backbone of our economy, yet they continue to face growing job insecurity and rising cost pressures. I was pleased to meet with David Adams, President and CEO of Global Automakers of Canada, to discuss ways we can strengthen Canada’s auto industry and better support the workers who keep it running.

As your MP and Chair of the Auto Caucus, I am proud to represent the hardworking auto workers of Essex, and I remain committed to championing Canada-first policies in Ottawa.

Starting Remembrance Week, in South Woodslee, at the Millen Center.

A beautiful, comfortable, fall day on which to remember the great sacrifices of those, who left the comfort of home, to fight for our freedom. Many returned changed, too many never returned. They made a sacrifice too great to be repaid. We MUST never forget.

Supreme Court Decision | Nov 1, 2025

The Supreme Court has struck down mandatory minimums for child sexual abuse material offences — calling one year in jail “cruel and unusual punishment.”

Conservatives believe this decision is an insult to victims and families.

We will use the Notwithstanding Clause to restore mandatory minimums and keep these predators in prison where they belong.

Chris Lewis MP - Essex

Constituency Office
