September 2025 News

Truth & Reconciliation | September 30, 2025

Today we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

A day to remember the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities.

Let’s take this time to reflect, listen, learn, and walk the path of reconciliation together.

Police Memorial Day | September 28, 2025

Today we remember those police and peace officers who laid down their lives while protecting our communities. Their courage, dedication and sacrifice help keep each of us safe.

We owe a great debt to their families, their colleagues, and everyone who serves to preserve peace and justice. Let us reflect on their commitment. Let us recommit ourselves to supporting public safety and the well-being of those who protect us.

Garden Party | September 27, 2025

Thank you, Pierre and Ana, for hosting Conservative MPs and their spouses for a Garden Party at your home.

Thank you for recognizing the spouses, of all elected officials, and the sacrifices they make so that we can continue to represent Canadians.

The future of our children, like your little spiderman, are the motivation for our service and the inspiration to leave the world a better place than we found it, for them and the coming generations.

Ruthven Apple Festival | September 27, 2025

It was a honour and a whole lot of fun attending the 46th Annual Ruthven Apple Festival today in support of Community Living Essex.

Thank you to the organizers and volunteers for their dedication to raise over 1 million dollars to support this important cause!

I was humbled and excited to have finally peeled my way to victory in the apple peeling contest this year! 🍎

The competition was fierce!

Liberal gun Grab | September 23, 2025

Leaked audio has emerged of the Liberal Minister of Public Safety confirming that the Carney Liberals will proceed with their $742 million gun confiscation regime.

In the recording, the Minister admits:
– He is “not an expert on this.”
– “Don’t ask me to explain the logic to you on this.”
– Police services don’t have the resources to carry it out.
– If starting from scratch, he “would have a very different process.”

Meanwhile, gun crime has risen 130%, most of it tied to illegal firearms smuggled across the border. Municipal, provincial, and federal police have all said this approach is the wrong one.

Canadians deserve policies that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and gangs—not wasteful programs targeting law-abiding gun owners.

Do you think confiscating firearms from law-abiding hunters will reduce crime in big cities—or is the real problem illegal guns being smuggled into Canada?

Repeal the Oil & Gas Cap | September 22, 2025

The Honourable Pierre Poilievre has moved that the House call on the Prime Minister to immediately repeal the oil and gas emissions cap, which in practice functions as a production cap.

Canada’s energy sector:
-Employs nearly one million people nationwide
-Is the single largest private sector investor in clean technologies
-Provides life-changing paycheques for families and communities across the country

Independent analysis from the Parliamentary Budget Officer (March 2025) projects that the cap would:
-Reduce oil and gas production by nearly 5%
-Cut GDP by $20.5 billion annually
-Eliminate over 54,000 full-time jobs by 2032

Energy is vital to our economy, our workers, and our role in providing secure, responsibly produced resources to the world.

The Price of a Liberal Government | September 19, 2025

Food prices continue to skyrocket under the Liberal Prime Minister after he promised to get them under control.
Today I asked for accountability and action to make life more affordable for everyone.

The response?

Another non-answer from the Parliamentary Secretary!

I am honoured to be your voice in Ottawa. I won’t stop working for you.

Jail Not Bail | September 18, 2025

Since 2015, violent crime is up 55%, firearms offences have increased 130%, and extortion has skyrocketed by 330%, showing the impact of weak bail and sentencing laws.

Conservatives have proposed a Three-Strikes-and-You’re-Out Law that would require criminals convicted of three serious offences to serve a minimum 10-year prison term, face designation as Dangerous Offenders, and be ineligible for bail, probation, parole, or house arrest.

This plan keeps violent offenders off our streets while offering pathways to rehabilitation only through spotless behaviour, clean drug tests, and proven personal improvement.

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program | September 17, 2025

You’re never too young to make a difference!

I had the opportunity to meet with Paulina Chow from the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program and hear about their scholarship program. The Award helps further the powerful humanitarian work being done by young people across the country. It was amazing to hear about the variety of fields their former recipients now work in!

Just like Terry Fox, these youth have put in countless hours of effort to make a difference, both for their communities and for Canada as a whole. Thank you, Paulina, for your efforts to keep supporting change-making Canadian youth!

Food Insecurity in Canada | September 17, 2025

Fact Check: Grocery Prices & Food Insecurity in Canada
Mark Carney recently said Canadians should judge his government by prices at the grocery store.

According to Food Banks Canada, household food insecurity has risen almost 40% in two years, and Canada received a “D” grade on poverty and food insecurity.

– Food bank visits have doubled to 4 million in two years.
– New Statistics Canada data shows food inflation was 70% above the CPI target.
– Key items seeing sharp increases:
Beef up 12.7%, Processed meat up 5.3%, Coffee up 27.9%, Infant formula up 6.6%.

Meanwhile, Canadians are spending 42.3% of their income on taxes—more than on food, housing, and clothing combined.
What do you think? Are Canadians better off at the grocery store today?

On Friday, September 12th, I joined AM800’s Mornings with Mike & Meg to discuss heading back to Ottawa.

I’m committed to keeping you updated — but it only works if you’re connected. Stay informed, stay engaged, and let’s keep moving Essex forward together.

Collaboration and cooperation on many levels are keys to the success of the partnership between Build a Dream, St Clair College and Zion Robotics.

This is a dynamic plan to provide “hands-on learning and a career exploration space designed to empower youth, women, and underrepresented groups with direct access to opportunities in the skilled trades and STEAM field”.

I look forward to hearing even greater success from this initiative as it grows locally and expands across the country!

CBC Interview | September 10, 2025

In my CBC interview, I spoke about the recent job losses in Amherstburg and the impact on families across our region.

I also highlighted the importance of supporting skilled trades workers, ensuring fairness for those who travel for work, and making sure local voices are heard as Canada’s auto industry continues to evolve. Always grateful for the chance to bring our community’s priorities to Ottawa.

Stand on Guard | September 10, 2025

Communities across Canada are seeing rising levels of violent crime — from shootings and arson to threats against small business owners. Police across the country have voiced concern that repeat violent offenders are too often released under current bail and sentencing laws.

Do you think Conservatives should press the government to restore tougher penalties and stronger protections for families and businesses?

Provincial Investments | September 9, 2025

I was pleased to attend today’s announcement in the Town of LaSalle, of a provincial investment of $22 million for necessary infrastructure.

Thank you Hon. Kinga Surma, Ontario Minister of Infrastructure and MPP Anthony Leardi, for prioritizing this funding, and for supporting the growth and success of our region.

Unemployment Rates | September 8, 2025

Canada lost 106,000 jobs this summer and unemployment has climbed to 7.1%, the highest since 2016 outside the pandemic. Yet, while Canadians are struggling, the Liberals issued 105,000 Temporary Foreign Worker permits—putting foreign workers ahead of our own.

Conservatives will end the TFW program and fight to bring back high-paying jobs for Canadians first.

Rising Food Prices | September 4, 2025

Statistics Canada released Monthly average retail prices for selected products, July 2025.

The latest numbers show the cost of everyday staples—soup, beef, fruit, and coffee—has spiked by double digits since March.

These aren’t luxuries, they’re essentials. When prices rise this fast, families feel it every time they shop. Canadians deserve leadership that puts affordability first and makes the weekly grocery bill manageable again.
