Unemployment rises to 6.8% | Jan 12, 2026
StatsCan’s December Labour Force Survey shows unemployment rose to 6.8%, up from November. That means 73,000 more Canadians are without work, including 27,000 young workers aged 15 to 24. At the same time, the U.S. added jobs and saw unemployment fall.
Canadians need an economy that creates jobs and keeps investment here. Conservatives will focus on putting Canadians first, restoring growth, and bringing good-paying jobs back home.
